Merry Christmas everyone

one of my favorite musicians Steven Sharp Nelson, part of The Piano Guys (Link Here) I love these guys and the way they do exciting and different versions of classic songs (not necessarily classical music)

Touch You There (feat. Nicky Shane)

It's not what you think (you've got a dirty mind?)

sometimes it's fun to be a little naughty, the song is about touching someone deep in their heart & soul, but i thought we'd play a trick and see who thinks otherwise, in our culture it's hard not to make the reference

Nicky & I were also privileged to have my buddy Peter Solodkin shred some great grooves on the song, without his talent the song would still be on paper

enjoy, leave a comment and of course you all know where to find iTunes, amazon etc.

Welcome to L.A. (Remix)

Hey since we are having fun here and life is too short, i thought i'd mess around with "Welcome to L.A." a bit, give it a bit of a booty vibe, this is exclusive to you folks and not available anywhere else, if you like it please comment and if you don't like it you can go @#$$%&!#((^@

what am I saying, of course you love it, i can already hear you asking me to make it available on iTunes, Amazon etc. and I can't because Steven Spielberg just bought it (i wish)

have fun

Welcome to L.A. (feat. Nicky Shane)

Well i guess if you love Los Angeles, you may not like this song that much, but to be fair, we're not saying L.A. is terrible it's just not so pleasant.

sadly this song is not available on iTunes (Technical difficulties or something) but you can get it on amazon.com -> Link <- so take a listen and watch for oncoming traffic

(also i love feedback so just comment right on this post, i appreciate the calls and the emails as well, but comments on the Blog and/or iTunes, amazon, Google+ facebook etc. are way awesome)

Scherzi (feat. Peter Solodkin)

Well, Peter & I go back a ways, we met around 2000 and formed a deep friendship very quickly which has provided us the opportunity to work with each other off & on (and not as much as i would like) for the past dozen years, i consider him one of my best friends and also one of the best musicians to work with.

Peter has an uncanny memory and I've never met a guitar player that knows so many riff's and songs top of his head, and he delivers them supremely with a ton of soul and technique

I wrote this song (strangely enough) 20 years ago, or i should say started it 20 years ago, Scherzi has gone through many iterations with many good (and not so good) musicians, but i couldn't have dreamed of a better friend to put that finishing touch on it

take a listen

why are you still here then get a move on iTunes this way CLICKITY CLACK

Mars is Getting Closer (feat. Nicky Shane)

"Your love absolves from the bottom, take me down to the forgotten"

I love this song a lot, there is a sensual driving tensity to it (which of course has nothing to do with Nicky Shane and his lyrics and vocal melody)

I wrote the music for this about 2 years ago, at a time when i was going through much turmoil, but as with storms and their their aftermath sunshine prevails, life has a way of getting better after trauma and when we think that all hope is lost, we emerge stronger than before

enjoy (and head over to iTunes and grab one, i've heard it makes a great Christmas stocking stuffer)

Nickel For A Dime (feat. Jade Redd)

What can i say about Madalena, the beautiful voice, the great attitude, and the fun i have recording her, maybe all of the above

Madalena is a fantastic singer and supreme talented wordsmith, i can't get enough of working with her and i hope to work with her for a long time to come

enjoy, our first collaboration together that we released a few months back (and don't forget to get a copy from iTunes, before they run out because of holiday sales or something), you can listen to the full song here instead of the 90 second sample

we are working on some great new material as well which has me so excited i can't sleep for anticipation

Pretending You Care (feat. Nicky Shane)

This is absolutely my favorite collaboration ever, Nicky has an uncanny ability to weave words and melody better than anyone i've known (the warm voice doesn't hurt either)

the song is available on iTunes, Amazon, eMusic and somewhere on spotify, simply search for "Kiss A Toad" or "Nicky Shane"

Posting full songs on blog

After searching (and scratching head and other areas) figured out how i can post songs to stream on this blog, so that you guys can listen to the full song (instead of the 90 second preview) before you head over to iTunes (Link) and purchase 17 copies for your entire family

and while you are on iTunes don't forget to tell the whole world what a fantastic songwriter i am

Some Good Friends

For the past 2 years, i have been learning audio engineering, despite having a long way to go I've managed to learn a lot and put the learning to good use (do you agree?).

Using Ableton Live 8 (which is an amazing software BTW) and a ton of samples and plugins has allowed me to realize the goal of being completely independent, creating an atmosphere where i can collaborate with some of my best musician friends (Nicky, Madalena & Peter) to create music that i think is the best work I've made in my life, self-engineered and self-produced.

All this has taught me the value of these fantastic musicians and awesome friends even more so, i feel we have a much more nourishing environment to work in and produce some great songs to boot.

Thank you guys

Introducing Kiss A Toad

Hello there (anyone gracious enough to visit)

So i started this blog to promote and discuss songwriting and the art and technology that goes with it and of course to shamelessly promote my own works found on iTunes, Amazon etc.

The art of songwriting is mostly a labor of love, sometimes involving hard work, disagreements, disappointments and brings with it lasting friendships and sometimes (sadly) broken friendships, the collaborations that goes with it can be extremely rewarding and/or heart breaking, but the ultimate product is usually a joy once all is said and done.

I hope to update the blog on a regular basis with thoughts and articles of interest and anything that relates to songwriting as i see it
